Congratulations Girls Lacrosse

Considering recent social media posts surrounding the handling of Bremen High School trophies, it is important that I address and correct some misunderstandings that have arisen. Contrary to rumors that have been circulating primarily through social media, I want to clarify that BHS is not throwing away trophies. We have many trophies on display and have many more that will be added to displays in the future. The preservation of Bremen High School’s history, including its academic and extracurricular accomplishments, is a priority for our coaches, staff, administration, and community. The trophies representing the hard work, dedication, and spirit of the past and present students are a cherished part of our collective history and identity. We understand the concern and emotional investment our community has in these symbols of achievement. I’ll provide a little history of how BHS trophies have been displayed and stored in the past up to the present day. When the old gym was taken down in 2015, trophies were moved from the gym display cases into storage at BHS. We then had shelving installed in what was called “The Commons”. Trophies remained on display in the commons until high school renovations in 2022. Because of the renovations going on at BHS, coaches of each activity were asked to store or display the trophies of the activities they coached until BHS had a place to display those trophies. Our coaches have the trophies they were asked to store. We started an inventory process in 2022 and now have about 450 trophies in our current inventory. In the coming months, the Director of Programs and Activities, Mr. Bill Garrett, will form a committee of staff and community members to plan how best to display Bremen High School's many awards over the years. As part of this process, we’ll also continue to research our past. We currently have trophies dating back to the 1960s. Ensuring that our school’s legacy is preserved is a responsibility that we take seriously. Please reach out to me if you have concerns, if you have historical items you’d like to contribute, or if you have suggestions on how to best honor our history. My office number is (770) 537-2592, and my email is tim.huff@bremencs.com. Thank you for your input in celebrating the many great accomplishments in Bremen. I've included pictures of some of our trophy displays as well as some of our trophies that are being stored for future displays. Go Blue! Tim Huff BHS Principal
